Harvest Autumn Evening Show!
Rakugo; Japanese Sit-down Comedy of Comic Story Telling

Harvest autumn evening show!

Rakugo is a popular traditional art form. The story is full of comic monologue in which is traditional imaginary drama through episodic narration and skillful use of vocal and facial expressions to portray various characters.

Sayohime

Sayohime

I started performing English Rakugo 11 years ago, and since then I have performed Rakugo in English not only in Japan but also in foreign countries.(NY, SF, NZ) After performance, they felt much closer to the Japanese people. Because Rakugo stories tell about daily experiences for the Japanese people and humors.

Humor is universal like sports and music. I think English rakugo can contribute to international understanding for world peace.

I had performed Rakugo in big halls for Rakugo or we were always invited to perform it so far. But I want to perform even in a small space or right in front of the audience. If there are people who want to see English Rakugo, I come right over and have them watch my funny Rakugo.

[Autumn]
Kyoto Jidai-matsuri Festival on October 22

The Jidai Matsuri (時代祭) commemorates the transfer of the capital to Kyoto in 794, the 1,100 years that it remained the capital(until it was moved to Tokyo in 1868), and the finishing of the Heian Jingu Shrine where the procession ends. It was first held in 1895.

We are offering the best view tickets to watch the 2-hour parade filled with 2,000 people dressed like Samurai warriors and others.
Please enjoy one of Kyoto's renowned three great festivals.
